4:20 almost
i stand by it.

happy 420
Current mood:
accomplished
i have a friend that does not smoke.
he does not understand 420.
he thinks it's stupid.
alright, it's not like it's an important day... but damn it, i like it.
most years at 4:20pm i can be found outside the art gallery with a couple thousand others, just doing our thing. it's a great vibe. everyone is happy and peaceful... and oh-so high.
this year i have to work until 5:30, so it will likely be more of a 5:40 celebration for me.
what am i celebrating? what is it all supposed to mean?
well, sometimes i'm not 100% sure... but i can tell you this...
i'm celebrating the fact that we live in a free society where the public can stand together and say to the government that prohibition is a ridiculous outdated idea...
i'm celebrating my right as a citizen to choose to partake in a social activity that does not affect anyone excect myself. (well, it also might affect sales of $.99 pizza slices and slurpees)
i'm celebrating this wonderful place i live in that grows the best damn weed in the world. i'm cheersing the growers that have put their time and effort into refining strains and pouring their heart and soul into a crop.
but mostly i'm celebrating my freedom, and the fact that if i lived in america i couldn't stand wherever i want and light one up.

and that's what 4:20 means to me.
so if you're down... then do it up wherever you live.
it doesn't have to be a huge political statement... just a statement to yourself and what you believe in.

This year's 4:20 should be far better than last year. unfortunatly last year i didn't get to partake at the art gallery until after i got off work at 5pm, so i missed most of the madness.
this year it's a sunday, so i'm in there like swimwear.
i also found my post from 4:21, which made me laugh. hard.
so... enjoy my flashback.

421
Current mood: hungover
yesterday was awesome.
got off work about 5pm, cruised down to the art gallery to catch the aftermath of 420.
there was still about a thousand people there. music was blaring... bob marley, of course. it was sweet.
met up with a couple of my pals and "caught up".
then my bro and carey came over and we got into the patio beers.
i totally decided it was patio season yesterday.
problem: all i ate yesterday was 2 x $.99 slices.
by the time i went to shawna's at 9pm i was gunned.
we started drinking vodkas... i almost threw up around midnight and had to go home.
got a cab, and when i got home i totally puked. it made me feel better.
but i woke up this morning dreaming of food... specifically kraft dinner. which is really nothing new.
must eat.
i smoked a pack and a half of cigarettes yesterday.
we have 71 empty beers on our kitchen counter.
we just noticed the jesus candles outside are still burning.
wow.
hockey tonight. 5pm. helen and colin are coming... you're invited too.

this year's plan... well, will probably shape up with similar results.
since it's a sunday, i had the foresight to take monday off work.
so 4:20, we'll wake and bake...
then hit up dim sum
then go to browntown (that's the indian marketplace for you non-vancity folks)
then hit the art gallery for 4:20pm.
then hit the patio for beers.
i think there's at least of 6 of us on this adventure...
and yes, we'll be doing it all via public transit. don't you worry, we're safe peoples.
man, my life is good.
i mean really good.
besides 4:20 this weekend... i also have my bridal shower on saturday.
that means all my girls are in town, which is amazing.
i'm really excited for it, and really appreciate all the hard work that they've done for it.
my friends kick ass.

Yes!
This is why you are awesome!
Ok, why are you not on the east coast?

This has, like, all the makings of everything I love about Vancouver: Good people, patio beers, shopping, tons of killer dope, and most of all, MODERATLY RELIABLE TRANSIT.
